EZ New York Strip & Roasted Sweet Potato Lunch or Dinner

Steak at 55+ calories per ounce is more of a maintenance mode meal, never two days in a row. I limit it to once a week even in maintenance mode. As pictured the above meal is almost 800 calories with sauces. So in diet mode this is lunch and dinner. Or it fits in maintenance mode while maintaining weight.

That’s about 8 ounces of New York Strip steak at 65 calories an ounce or about 520 calories and maybe 50 calories in olive oil and marinade. The steak alone is bumping 600 calories.  Just have half this much steak in weight loss mode and add a salad.

In contrast that’s only 100 calories plus a little oil, maybe 150 calories if coated heavily in oil in that pile of sweet potatoes.

The real reason for posting this picture is the method of cutting and roasting the sweet potato.  I slice the sweet potato into 3/4 inch thick round disks, then slice  down the middle of each disk once, and then 3 slices the other way to make 6 cubes out of each disk. I wash the sweet potato thoroughly and carve off any bad spots and leave the skin on when roasting organic sweet potatoes.

Spray or add some coconut or olive oil on aluminum foil. I sprinkle with garlic powder, organic turmeric, black pepper, Himalayan pink sea salt then toss it or roll it to coat evenly. Then roast in a convection oven for 30 minutes. Or 425 degrees in a regular oven for 20 minutes.

Meal tip: In a small convection oven start the roasted sweet potatoes at 30 minutes; then add the steak after the potatoes have roasted 15 to 20 minutes.

There’s plenty of pepper here to help increase the turmeric absorption. This is another way to add more turmeric to your diet.
