EZ Diet Editor Comment:  I’ve always battled excessive fluid retention while eating processed and restaurant food for most of my life. I inherited what I consider an extreme sensitivity to sodium from my mother that got worse with age.

I would add a Far Infrared Sauna to the list below.  I can get rid of 2+ pounds of excess fluid in what I call a 30 minute rolling sweat session in a Far Infrared Sauna. A rolling sweat session for me is like 12 beads of sweat rolling simultaneously for 30 minutes. It normally takes me 10 to 20 minutes in the sauna to get to the start of a 30 minute rolling sweat session. A hot shower, or a workout, walk, or hike just before you get in speeds that up to just a few minutes. I can really notice it in my face as it tightens back up to the skull after a week of 30 minute sessions. Especially if you’re sensitive to sodium after dining out, or where you’ve lost control of food ingredients for a week or two while on vacation or holidays.

I used apple cider vinegar capsules, green tea extract capsules, and a natural herbal diuretic water pill while losing weight and in maintenance mode.  Most of the before and after pictures you see on the Internet (like the one above) is simply shedding that 10 to 30 pounds of extra water weight many people carry around from consuming 20,000+ mg of sodium everyday.

When I started the Ezekiel Diet I lost a pound a day for 45 days. The only way that’s possible is dropping a lot of fluid retention.  The Atkins Diet does the same thing, it helps the body expel a lot of fluid at the start.  Why is fluid being retained by so many people? Processed food, fast food, restaurant food, alcohol, excessive sodium, and probably everything that taxes the liver after age 30.

Getting rid of water weight is more than just popping diuretics from the pharmacy. There are actually specific foods and strategic exercises that work to reduce water weight in the body. Incorporating these methods into a daily routine will prove to be a boost in any daily routine and will have you feeling energized and trim.

1. Herbs

Fennel, ginger, garlic, and parsley all have very important antioxidants and can be added to any meal. Consuming these herbs allow for the evaporation of excess water from the body but do not lead to dehydration.

2. Sleep for Extra 30 Minutes

Not often do people get the recommended 8 hours of sleep per night, many only get 5 or 6 hours. Sleeping an extra 30 minutes gives more energy for workouts which will decrease water weight.

3. Rose Petal Water

To make this, add distilled water to a pan of rose petals. Place on the stove and simmer for 15 to 20 minutes, until the color drains from the petals. Strain the mixture and drink at least ½ cup of it on an empty stomach each morning. This helps to draw water out from the circulatory system.

4. Cardiac Exercises and Sit Ups

Exercises that increase the heartbeat and warm the body up will help to trim down the water weight a bit quicker. These exercises include the treadmill and walking, should be performed both in the morning and at night, and will help to lose water weight even overnight. A proper posture allows for water to flow evenly, while doing sit ups and squats during free time tones muscles and reduces water weight quickly.

5. Parsley Tea

A great alternative to coffee, parsley tea provides antioxidants needed to cut water weight. Having this tea at least 3 times a day keeps the body active and prevents dangerous dehydration.

6. Apple Cider Vinegar

This natural diuretic helps to maintain the potassium levels in the body. Sometimes potassium loss occurs when working to reduce water weight, but 2 spoons of apple cider vinegar provides enough potassium to keep the body healthy.

7. Herbal Teas

Have this in place of milk, which slows down water weight reduction. Herbal teas include lemon tea, green tea, chamomile tea, and herbal grass tea. These will detox the body and decrease weight due to water retention.

8. Cabbage Juice

Though it is not known to be tasty, it can be added to yogurt for easy consumption in the mornings with a dash of pepper. The cabbage prevents the body from absorbing excess water and helps to heal organs from inflammation and bloating.

9. Watermelon

An excellent source of Vitamins A, B, and C as well as magnesium, watermelon helps to not only eliminate water weight rapidly, but also gives the skin a radiant look.

Incorporating the foods into a proper diet while also performing the exercises suggested will help to reduce water weight in a healthy manner. Many of these foods can be added with very little effort to reduce the waistline measurement due to water weight and bloating.
