Turn any USB drive into a media player in 30 seconds Ford SYNC 3 & 4 Audio

Ezekiel Diet Note: I recently dumped my Sirius XM subscription because it had slowly escalated to $45 a month for 2 cars, or $540 a year for a car radio. I’ve been doing that for 12 years. It’s not just $540 it’s many multiples of that amount.

I could never find anything to listen to on Sirius XM meaning I was distracted while driving. I’m not into sports, a ridiculous waste of time to me. I listened to Joel more than anything else and he’s replaying the same 20 messages for years.

Everybody wants you on their subscription plan. You’ll own nothing, rent everything and love it.  Yeah, sure.

So I’m looking for an old phone or MP3 player I could plug in and listen to my own playlist and end up with more options than just Happy Joel.

Ford just sent out a signal to block the use of any MP3 player and when you call they suggest to “subscribe” to one of the services and connect your phone via BlueTooth. I guess Ford would like that. I don’t connect my phone to my car, ever.

I tried plugging in a USB drive with several gigabytes of my music and messages. It warns “this device requires to much power, unplug.”

After watching the video below I’ve discovered the standard FAT32 format of a USB drive won’t work in a vehicle. However ExFAT format is compatible with my vehicle.

I replaced the Sirius XM $540 a year subscription with a $10 USB drive. I think I have somewhere between 50 and 100 hours of listening and I’ve only used 30% of the 14 gigabytes. When I get tired of that USB drive I’ll make another one for $10.

I can also load audio books not available on Sirius XM.
