Movie Review: Civil War (2024) – Maybe 3 Stars

Ezekiel Diet Note:  Civil War is a 2024 dystopian war film written and directed by Alex Garland. It follows a team of journalists traveling across the United States during a civil war fought between an authoritarian federal government and several regional factions.

I went to see Civil War last night. I have to say I was not impressed and thought the story-line was disjointed and lacking.  If you’re sensitive to Dolby enhanced surround sound of endless high caliber gunfire and bombs going off take some cotton ear plugs. My date was covering her ears during a good percentage of the movie. Thankfully the movie is only an hour and forty nine minutes and not dragged out to three hours like so many today. I do agree there’s definitely a “get whitey” slant to the movie.

In fact it was very similar to an episode of The Walking Dead with Whitey replacing the zombies. I believe they used many of the same areas, streets and highways used in The Walking Dead.

I do have to say the movie a visual AI extravaganza of billions in military equipment, endless gunfire and slaughter of mostly whitey. And movie sets (and set destruction) that would have cost millions before AI. They do use the occasional helicopter or Humvee for closeups but most of it had to be next generation AI. A lot of the city and monument destruction scenes were produced in the dark or low lighting to help hide the AI scenes.

SPOILER ALERT:  Alex Jones seems to believe the movie is about a civil war started (supposedly) when Trump is reelected and causes numerous states to violently secede their State Corporations out from under the US Corporation. In the end of the movie it was all about killing a cowering Trump (character) dragged out from behind his desk on the floor. He’s begging for his life before a black militant female Western Force’s patriot (feminist reinforcement) shoots him several times at point blank range. This scenario is a stretch and makes no sense to me. Maybe if the next election is stolen from Trump, the above might make sense.
