The Potassium Conspiracy

Ezekiel Diet Note: I suspect everyone reading this post has low potassium levels; intentionally. It’s probably one of the most needed supplements that has been drastically limited by supplement manufacturers to just 99 mg tablets. To get the daily requirement of potassium (4,500 mg) to balance just 1,500 mg of sodium (very low) you would have to consume 47 – 99 mg capsules.

Notice this doctor’s comment about being hospitalized for some emergency when they discovered high blood pressure. The attending nurse administers two horse-pill-sized doses of potassium that brought his blood pressure back down to manageable levels almost immediately. Has anyone ever told you this before? Did you know there was a prescription “toll” to buy expensive pharmaceutical potassium? And did you know that larger doses of potassium to balance the average diet of 5,000 to 10,000 mg of sodium (salt) is not an option to the general public; until lately.

I recently located a supplier of 500 mg potassium capsules on Amazon that I intend to use for at least half my daily needs and extra after a meal out. Keep in mind 1,020 mg of potassium bicarbonate only provides about 400 mg of real potassium. So it’s a bit deceptive. And, I was glad to see I could buy bulk potassium bicarbonate in 2 lb and 10 lb tubs, for making cheese and wine. I was surprised to see how many of these tubs were sold in the last 30 days. Hmm I thought, I’m late to the party.

I may just buy in bulk and sprinkle it on food while cooking or mix with water, or a smoothie, depending on taste. This eliminates all the fillers and capsule and cuts the cost.

The rest of my potassium I’ll get from 3 or 4 cups of sauteed spinach, one or two avocados, and the small amount of potassium in other foods I already eat. Of course bananas, potatoes, and beans are higher in potassium but spike blood sugar. You have to be cognizant of this issue if you want avoid high blood pressure.

Here’s the optimal formula (everyone falls short), you need 3 milligrams of potassium for every milligram of sodium. The average person struggles to consume a 1:1 ratio. So 4,500 mg of potassium is just enough to cover a very low 1,500 mg sodium a day diet. The only way you can achieve 1,500 mg of sodium is to prepare all your meals at home. If you’re eating out on a regular basis and consume any amount of processed food you’re probably consuming between 5,000 and 10,000 mg (or more) of sodium a day. If this is the case, factor the need for 15,000 to 30,000 mg of potassium. I’m not recommending this but that’s 30 to 60 bananas. Or 30 to 60 zucchini cooked. Or 18 to 36 cups of cooked spinach. You have to think about this daily and limit eating out to once a week. Or become a big fat fluid blob with high blood pressure from excess sodium and not enough potassium.

How a vitally important nutrient is being stolen from the public.
