Baked Cabbage Steaks with Butter, Garlic, Smoked Paprika, Pepper, Olive Oil

EZ Diet Note:  I tried this guy’s cabbage steak recipe tonight.   That’s my image above. A half inch thick cabbage steak may bake at 350 degrees for 40 minutes. But 3/4 to 1 inch thick you might bake at 350 degrees for an hour.  Add the cheese in the last 10 minutes.  I used a little Parmesan and Asiago cheese.  The butter, garlic, cheese and smoked paprika gives the cabbage a buttery Domino’s pizza flavor.

Cabbage like this reminds me of the similarity to grits. Most people have never had grits prepared correctly with butter, salt and cheese.  In fact, grits are just the conduit to get the correct portions of butter, salt and cheese into your mouth. Cabbage is kind of the same conduit. It’s just a low calorie food that helps you get the butter, garlic and cheese in your mouth.

You can skip through half this video to just a few frames cutting the cabbage into steaks, then to the sauce mix and get this down to less than a minute or two.

Baked Cabbage Steaks! (Two Types of Cheese!)

Rinse off the lettuce and peal off the real loose green leaves. Cut the bottom off flush and sit the head of cabbage up on flat part… then cut off the rounded sides to square it up. Save them for a salad. Slice into 1 inch steaks and put them on a sprayed cookie sheet.

Make a mixture of:

1 whole stick of butter

1 tbsp olive oil

1 tbsp. garlic paste

1 tsp. black pepper

1 tsp. paprika

Mix well and brush all of it on the cabbage steaks, Bake at 350 degrees for 30 minutes then cover the steaks with cheese and bake another 10 to 15 minutes until the edges are golden brown. Enjoy!
